This sawyer display has graced the outside of the museum for a full 50 years. It was built by Norm Brayshaw who along with Herb Watson had an amazing vision for Renwick Museum. The display was showing signs of wear and worried that it may collapse we decided to take it down. Local business, TRS on High Street agreed to lift the very heavy log for us, and we very much appreciated their generous help. In time the sawyer will be cleaned back to its former glory and put back on display but with a change of venue to the back of the museum.
The frame supporting the woodcutters nearly fell apart on its own. We were very grateful for the help of Tractor Repairs & Spares Ltd, of High Street Renwick for their help in lifting the heavy logs. The fork lift made easy work of it for us.
